7th Anniversary

Clint and I celebrated out 7th anniversary on June 2nd. We decided to make a weekend trip to St. Louis. We left on Friday before our anniversary and came back on Sunday. Parker got to spend the night at Mike & Jennifer's and then at Bob & Cindy's. I think I have more pictures of him that weekend than of us ;) Partly because we didn't carry our phones around that much...less distractions.

When we first got to STL we checked into out hotel, The Chase Park Plaza, which was really nice! Then we went to dinner at a restaurant in Central West End which was a really neat area. We were really happy with where we stayed! After dinner we went to the movie theater in our hotel and saw Neighbors, which was pretty funny.

Saturday we had breakfast at the hotel which was delish! Then we went to Forest Park to walk around but it was so HOT! We were both so sweaty so we headed back to the hotel. Then we decided to check out the Science Center which was free except for parking and it was a lot of fun! We decided to get pizza for lunch...we looked up a local place (Imo's) and headed there. We enjoyed the breadsticks but the pizza was so nasty! St. Louis-style pizza is made with provel which is a processed cheese and it is so gross! We do not recommend it! After that we went to an outlet mall and did a little shopping. We then went back to the hotel to clean up and then headed downtown. We hit traffic because a Cardinal's game just let out but it wasn't too bad. We went to the Arch and got our tickets for the last tram right before 9 pm. Then we went and had dinner which was also really good. We had some extra time so went to the City Garden which was also pretty cool. There were several water features, sculptures, and paths. Then we headed back toward the Arch for our night view. It was pretty neat to see at night!

Sunday morning we went out for breakfast and had some delicious waffles! Then we checked out and headed home to get our little man! I don't know how many times we said we missed him! While we did miss him, it was really fun to have a weekend to ourselves and enjoy each other :)

Where should we go next year??

Laundry Room Makeover - Part 2

Basically the laundry room makeover is complete. The only things left to do are redo the shelve compartments above the washer & dryer, hang up a few decorations, and install a transition piece on the floor to the basement stairs. I don't want to do a complete reveal until it is finished but I will show you a few updated pictures because Clint has been bugging me :) He wants everyone to see his handy work (and not make it seem like it's been unfinished forever!).

Clint made this wonderful bench seat! The bins that are underneath are actually going to go in the new shelf Clint is building for above the washer and dryer. I found bins with the same pattern but the were half the height and I really wanted the bigger ones...so my wonderful husband is going to make a new shelf :) He's so awesome!

Speaking of awesome...I made the beautiful purple cushion on top of the bench! It may not be the best sewing job but I did it on my own! It is even removable! I used velco instead of a zipper but now it can be washed if needed.

I really like the coat hook we picked out! We pretty much only use the garage door when we enter/exit which means our coats etc. end up laying on the island or the chairs in the kitchen. Now we have an easy place to leave them!

Close up on my pretty bench cushion!

I love having a shelf right above the washer & dryer so that the dryer doesn't collect a bunch of crap. Hopefully the shelf won't start collecting everything either! I bought a small bin in the same pattern to hold a few random things (Zoe's leash, dust buster cord, etc).

What do you think about my washer & dryer makeover? I bought brushed nickel spray paint and covered the doors to spruce them up! We have a lot of white in the laundry room so this toned it down a smidge. Everyone thinks we bought a new set!

The shelves that are up at the top now are going to come down and go in my closet. Much prettier ones will be going up soon!

Our lovely pocket door that started this all! And Zoe's blurry head!

Stay tuned for the final reveal!!

Wedding Ring Fiasco

A couple weeks ago Augusta and I were at the gym working out like normal. Since high school I have always taken off all my jewelry. So, like normal I placed my wedding rings in my bag. After working out, we grabbed our bags and were leaving. I decided to put my rings back on and found that they were not in my bag. We went back to the locker room to look for them. Unfortunately I never found them :( I filed an incident report at the gym and also filed a police report. Clint and I checked out several cash for gold shops and a few pawn shops but had no luck. Clint called out insurance because thankfully we had insured my ring before we got married. Unfortunately we forgot to add my wedding ring. After a little back and forth with our insurance (and Clint using his muscle ;) we got a check last week to replace my ring. Sunday Clint surprised me and went to the Andrew's Jewelers and found my exact ring and reproposed to me :)

When Clint originally proposed to me has placed signs in the neighborhood and was in my dad's driveway on one knee. We never got rid of the signs because they are special. I am glad we didn't and that he got two uses out of them (even though I wished he hadn't needed to replace the ring). On Christmas morning we opened our stockings and he surprised me yet again! At the bottom was a wedding band! So now I just need to get them sized and soldered together.

Pretty sure that I am a very lucky girl. He is pretty much the best!

10 Long Months

Clint moved to a new job site today. He is working downtown at the Chase Tower for the next 10 months. However, he is working night shift :( He is working from 6:00 - 2:30 which means I get to see him from 3:30 - 4:45 every day. This week I already won't see him Tuesday because of a school meeting and Wednesday I have a dentist appointment. It's going to be a long 10 months. Luckily he will be home when I have days off and vacation! He is also making more money because he is foreman in addition to the extra money for night shift. Hopefully it won't be that bad and it will go fast!

Clint-isms

Everyone in my family knows that Clint can say some pretty ridiculous things and usually they are on accident. Which then makes them so much funnier!

Example #1 from tonight: We were leaving Meijer's parking lot and he spied a Camaro parked far away, which was also parked right next to another car. Clint got a door ding last week and so I told him to go park right next to it because it would be funny. We drove past it and there was a person sitting in the Camaro. I said, "Oooh, a drug deal!" Clint said "Nooo a secret meeting! Ooh lala! Like that time watched a menage a trois!" Me: "WTH??"

I knew what he meant but I was too busy dying to correct him! He then realized he meant to say Rendezvous.

Now you might be wondering what he was referencing. 1/ We did NOT watch a threesome. A couple years ago we were at Wal Mart in Camby. For some reason we were in the car and noticed two cars parked next to each other with people in one that were making out. We decided to spy on them because they were acting weird. We also decided to act out their conversation too. Then the lady got out of the man's car and into her own car. We made up a whole story about how they were cheaters leaving a rendezvous at a skeezy hotel and parting ways at the romantic Wal Mart parking lot.

He then said another hilarious thing but I can't remember at this moment. Stay tuned...

Clint and his Buddies

Of course, Jack was Clint's original buddy, but there are 2 cuties trying their best to win him over!

New Kittens!

So last week I finally found a lady who had some Oriental Shorthair kittens available that I loved! I had trouble finding kittens that were not all white or all black or even oriental shorthair at all. But I finally did! I talked with the lady and set up a plan to get the kittens on Wednesday of my Fall Break. A fun little roadtrip to Chicago with my sister Hilary. Well, this lady had surgery planned for the following Friday and had some surprise doctor's appointments for that Wednesday. So she called me last Saturday and asked if I could come pick them up a few days early! Of course! I couldn't wait!

Clint was busy working that Saturday but was more than willing to leave work early and go with me on the trip.
As you can tell, he was really thrilled!

The lady I got the cats from suggested that we meet at the O'Hare Oasis. I googled it and printed the directions and off we went! Well, we made it to Chicago pretty quick. However, we accidentally took 90 through downtown Chicago which was a disaster! Well, it wasn't an accident, the directions told us to go that way. Then once we finally got to 294 we took an exit that was seriously 1 minute before our actual destination (we didn't know this til later). We drove around looking for our destination and called the lady but she wasn't answering! I was getting really frustrated at this point because we were pushing almost an hour late now! I finally got a hold of the lady and she didn't really know where we were at the time (later she figured it out - she wasn't from the area). She told me that we weren't supposed to even get off 294, because the oasis was actually a rest stop thing on the interstate at the toll road! Duh! I wished that she had told me this before! Clint talked to her for a while and we finally made it to the oasis and we got the kitties!

The brown one is the little boy and the gray one is the little girl!
