Summer Break - Week #1

Last week was my first week of summer vacation! We had great weather and lots of fun!

Monday we went to story time at the Avon library. Jennifer took the kids to at least one story time a week at various libraries during the year so I let her keep signing Parker up! I like that he gets to socialize with other kids and it's fun to go to! After we went to the library we stopped in at the park in Avon and played until it started to sprinkle. Then Parker and I headed to Pizza King (choo choo pizza). Then Parker took a three and a half hour nap! Apparently I wore him out on our first day off!

What better way to start vacation than with two bowls of cereal?!

Tuesday we met the girls on my team for lunch to celebrate Augusta's & Melissa's birthdays! Then we had popsicles and Parker invented his own popsicle holder from our firewood.

Wednesday we went to the neighborhood pool and swam! It was so nice to not have to clean or maintain the pool...I could just relax! Parker had the toddler pool to himself and the weather was perfect!

Thursday we went to Hummel Park in Plainfield! We played on the playground & splash pad. Then we had a picnic and played at the creek!

Clint's job is on four ten hour days so he is off on Fridays this summer! Last Friday he finished up the fence so Parker and I met Jennifer and Ady at Skyzone in Plainfield. He had so much fun jumping!

Over the weekend we played outside, got a haircut, ate popsicles, went to some garage sales, played at the pool, and took some nice naps!

Sure! Let's have a picnic in the garage!

fresh hair cut!
He loves brushing his teeth with his new powered Spiderman toothbrush!

I also had one school related job I wanted to do this summer: level my classroom library! I managed to get it all done in the first week since he napped pretty well! I wasn't looking forward to lugging all my books home but I was glad to do it from home instead of going into my classroom. I didn't count how many books I had but let's just say it was A LOT! Parker obviously helped look through them!

I'd say that was an awesome way to start summer vacation!

Finally! An Update!

Life has been crazy busy at our house the last month or so! We decided to take our pool out so Clint has been working on that all the stinking time! We hired someone to do it, but he was a bust so Clint has put in a billion hours to try and get it done! It is finally done as of yesterday!! We even have some grass already growing! Our new fence will be here next Friday and then it will go up!  I may do a big update on that whole mess of a project later.

After!

We also did a mini bedroom/closet makeover! We had some built in wall speaker that I wanted taken out but that meant drywall work, which Clint hates. So we decided to take them out and put up a plank wall! So last weekend we stained all the boards in about two hours. Then Clint decided on making five cuts for each row and got them all cut in a little over an hour. Then it took him about two hours total to hang them all! It looks great! I need to do some touch up painting and he is going to install the outlets. But I love it!

(pardon the terrible picture)

We also took out the standard row of shelving in our closet and made two rows on each side and the back wall currently has our ladder bookshelves. Clint will make some built-in shelves when he has some down time. There is so much more room now!

Parker is pretty much obsessed with the outdoors! As soon as we get home everyday we have to play outside for what seems like forever!

He loves his tricycle, his big truck, his wagon, his water table, his slide, and his wheelbarrow among a boatload of other outdoor activities. He is also obsessed with going on bike rides now that he has a cool bike trailer to ride in!

School is over this week so I have been super busy with planning my last assessments, awards, end of the year activities, and trying to clean up my room while still thinking about things I want to do next year! It's a vicious cycle!

We have several fun things planned this summer already and I'm sure we'll add some more! Clint & I are thinking about going to Dale Hollow over 4th of July weekend, I am going to Santa Cruz, California to see my sisters and cousins, my mom will be out here for a week to visit, and Clint and I want to take Parker to the beach for a 3 or 4 day mini vacay! We don't have any major projects going on around here for the rest of the summer so we hope to relax and enjoy the neighborhood pool this year...no cleaning or maintaining!

I'll leave you with a few more fun pics of my main squeeze:

Cold Days

I went back to school on Monday after my two week break  but yesterday and today school was cancelled due to the cold. So Parker and I did lots of playing and hanging out!

I have been trying to figure out my Nikon J1 and I am slowly getting the hang of it! I need to work on my photoshop skills some too so none of these are edited.

It's not hard taking photos when you have such a cute kid ;)
