Baby Shower at School

A diaper cake!

 Today was the finale in a three day marathon of baby shower goodness! My first grade team hosted a baby shower at school with delicious treats and wonderful gifts!

Diane even made a surprise appearance (there in the background). She was on my team when I first started teaching; she retired two years ago. We all called her our mother hen :) All her chicks will have babies now!

Even though it's blurry...you can still see the most awesome team ever! 

I forgot to take pictures of the cute cupcakes...they were orange and turquoise frosted and delicious!! They also made yummy sherbert punch!

I already have a list of the last few essentials that I think we need before Baby Reed gets here. I have both my registry coupons ready too! All that's missing now is the baby :)

Week 26

26 weeks down, 14 more to go! Today I had a doctor appointment. We got to hear the heartbeat as usual (150 bpm). I also go to do my glucose screening. I drank 10 oz. of a glucose mixture that tasted like semi flat Orange Crush. 

It was cold so it wasn't too bad. I had to drink it in 5 minutes  and then wait an hour for them to draw my blood to see how fast I processed the sugar. I should get a phone call tomorrow to see how it went...keep your fingers crossed it comes back good!

Sleep: I went back to school yesterday so of course I had to get up in the middle of the night the last two nights! Although last night was mostly because Zoe decided she needed to pee too!

Body Changes: I have gained about 11 pounds and some days I definitely feel like there is no where for any more weight to go! Then Clint reminds me that there is ;) Also - exciting news is that I can now see in my belly button more! It has stretched open somewhat recently. You probably don't know this but I have a weird fascination with my belly button. I like to make sure it's clean (who doesn't??) but my belly button is so small I can't see in it! Now it's perfect! Clint clearly thinks I'm coo-coo (especially when he catches me staring at it in the mirror).

Food: Other than eating more throughout the day, my diet hasn't really changed. Nothing makes me sick; I haven't had any cravings; smells haven't bothered me. The only real change is that I have tried to be healthier - I eat wheat bread, drink lots of water, try to eat less sugary foods/drinks, etc.

Symptoms: Nothing to report here!!

Movement: Clint has definitely been able to feel more movement in the last week. He gets excited which also makes me feel excited :) I have also recently felt more movement near my ribs. Everything so far had been really low - like below my beloved belly button. Now I have felt more higher movements.

Things We Bought/Did: We haven't really done anything new in the last week but I am looking forward to registering this weekend!

Today I had my students guess what I would be having because I didn't tell them before leaving for break. I wasn't sure that they could keep a secret from my team members ;)

First they colored the word boy or girl. They also chose a baby to color.

They wrote three predictions (gender, hair and eye color). 

They glued their prediction on a chart paper. I showed them my gender reveal video with the balloons - which they loved! It was fun to share this news with them!

Summer Time

With three and a half weeks left before summer vacation, I am now in the mindset of summer vacation :) I definitely have good reason too!

This Friday, May 4th: Opening our pool!! Woo hoo!

June 2nd - Me and Clint's 5th anniversary! We aren't sure what we are planning to do yet for the actual event. The present I asked for was to get pictures taken :) We have nothing hanging on our walls and I would really love some nice professional pictures. Not necessarily pictures of our faces, but nice pictures like above.

June 5th - 12th: I am going to California to see my mother :) I can't wait for this!! I love everything about California and of course my mom. I also get to see my mom's new house that she is in the midst of remodeling, which I know will be awesome!

June 12th - 19th: Lindsay and Ange will be in Indy for a few of these days, so extra sister time this summer!

July 9th - 16th: Clint and I are going to Ft. Myers with our friends Mike and Betsy. We haven't been on a vacation with friends in a while so this should be fun too!

July 20th - 24th: I will be going to Chicago with three girls that I work with for a first grade conference. We are taking a train there and back and staying at the Marriott on the Magnificent Mile. The best part is that our school district is paying for it! We will have so much fun! and we'll learn a lot too :)

Fancy Dinner!

A few weeks ago, Clint and I had two free tickets to the Wayne Township Education Fund's anniversary dinner. I was excited because I love getting dressed up and going out with Clint! I spied a fancy dress at Macy's a couple months ago when shopping with my step mom but at the time had no reason to buy it. Well, once I had these free tickets I rushed to Macy's to get the dress. Unfortunately, they didn't have it anymore :( Luckily, Von Maur had it! They only had one left and it just so happened, that it was in my size and half price!! Double score! Clint and I forgot to take our prom picture but here are a few fun ones:

Back to School!

Today was the first day back to school although the kids don't officially start until Wednesday. Kids actually wonder in and out these two days before they have to come though...usually the nervous or anxious ones!

I am keeping my jungle themed room again...I keep wanting to change it but just didn't have the time this year with moving houses and classrooms. I did get it all set up though!

Right now I have 21 kids on my list but it has changed quite a bit since last summer so we'll see who shows up Wednesday!
