Beckham - Three Weeks

Hello my little chubby bunny! 3 weeks old already and growing like a weed. Today Beckham weighed 8 pounds 13 ounces!! He has already gained one pound, 7 ounces! Since Wednesday he has gained 10 ounces alone! Apparently I'm making super milk this time around ;)

Likes: staring at the sky lights, cooing, sleeping in my carrier

Dislikes: going in the carseat, having gas

What's New in the Last Week: It's not new, but we did survive our first week alone ;) It may not have been the prettiest week, but we survived it. Obviously Beckham has been growing quite a bit, which means he is starting to get a little more full in his face and thighs and clearly his belly! I mean, just look at the thicky thick thighs he's getting! He also had his longest sleep stretch two nights ago...just over 5 hours! Last night he had a little over 4 hour stretch of sleep.

I have been really enjoying how well this one sleeps because Parker has been having a hard time napping. The only time Beckham has trouble is around 5 am because he has gas...he either needs to burp or fart but he has a hard time getting it out in the morning for some reason. I have tried burping him every way and switching him around a bit seems to help somewhat. When I change his diaper I stretch his legs way up and sometimes he lets out a good one then goes right back to sleep. I just got some gas drops so hopefully those help too.

Parker continues to be very good about having a brother and not all the attention. He's only asked a couple times for one of us to put the baby down or give him to the other parent. He loves to rub Beckham's head all the time especially after his bath when his hair's fuzzy. If he gets fussy, he likes to tell him "it's ok" in his little sweet voice. He usually likes to know where he is too. "Mommy, where's baby brother?" The hardest thing right now is getting Parker to take his nap. Trying to coincide Beckham's feeding with naptime hasn't been perfect, but I'm figuring it out. It's mostly hard when Baby B starts crying or fussing while I'm trying to get Parker to sleep. Hopefully we can get our routine down soon so I don't stress myself out too much ;)

July 4th Festivities

Now that Parker is 3, special events just seem more special! He is able to understand what the event is and see why it is fun! So we were excited to take him to fireworks!

slept through all the fireworks

loved his sparklers!

clearly he enjoyed his first picnic

Parker is ready for fireworks...Clint is probably ready for a nap ;)

Best Buds

Friday we went to Clint's boss's cookout, which I mentioned in my post the other day. Parker loved being out in the country, surrounded by the corn fields! He also loved the live bands! I don't think he has experienced that before. He had so much fun dancing. He was really into the fireworks too! I was glad Clint thought to bring the ear muffs for both boys because they were really loud.
The only bad thing a out fireworks is that it doesn't get dark til just before 10 so of course Parker was up way late!

Then on Monday we did a short trip out to Hummel Park in Plainfield. We had originally planned to do downtown but the forecast had called for rain and storms all day. So we had planned to stay home. Then that evening after the weather stayed rain-free, we decided to check out Plainfield since it was closer and wouldn't take forever to get home.

Parker's old onesie is a little big

yay! more sparklers!

ready for the show!

enjoying his nice outdoor nap

he just loves Beckham :)

ready for fireworks!
Well of course it started to sprinkle as soon as we got there. We sat under a bunch of trees which helped us stay dry for about an hour. Then the sprinkling really started to come down, so we headed to the truck. We hung out in there for about 10 minutes and then watched some of the fireworks. Parker was kind of over and just wanted to have fun in the truck so we headed home. We found all the good spots to see the fireworks from though for next year!

Beckham - Two Weeks

Baby B is two weeks old!

We celebrated the 4th of July twice this weekend; first on Friday at Clint's boss's annual cookout/festival. It is a huge picnic with around 200 people there (I don't even know 200 people?!?). They have a ton of food and a stage with bands. Then they end the night with a huge fireworks show. Parker had a great time running to the corn fields, dancing to the music, playing with glow sticks and sparklers, and watching the fireworks. Beckham slept the entire time. So I guess he enjoyed it.

Yesterday we made a last minute decision to head to Hummel Park in Plainfield to watch the fireworks since it wasn't raining and the radar was clear. Well of course, as soon as we got there and parked, it started sprinkling. We ended up going to the truck at about 9:45 and watched from there. Parker was pretty much a nut the whole hour and a half we were there. He was catching lightning bugs, did some more sparklers, ate some popcorn, and then was a total goober once we went into the truck. But we had a good time. Again, Beckham slept the entire time.

Today is my mom's last day with us :( She is leaving tomorrow morning. We will miss having all the help that we've had the last two weeks. Lindsay was here for a week and my mom was here for the last two weeks. It has been so nice to have the extra help with Parker, dinner, laundry, Beckham, and just another person here in general. We are so glad to have had them here!

Likes: being held, being fed, being swaddled at bedtime, looking out the window while swinging, his rock and play for bedtime, napping, singing/making noises (we like to say he is singing...basically it's just baby coos...super cute though)

Dislikes: when the milk doesn't come fast enough, being buckled into his car seat

What's New in the Last Week: He is spending more time awake which is nice because you can see his sweet baby blue eyes! His belly is getting bigger! I'll see how much he weighs on Wednesday when I go to the breastfeeding support group. Last Monday he weighed 7 lb. 4 oz. before eating and 7 lb. 7oz. after eating.

While at the support group last week I had the lactation consultant check out his tongue because the hospital pediatrician noticed he had somewhat of a tongue tie. She agreed and also said his upper lip was tied too. So she gave me the number to a dentist that specializes in tongue/lip ties. He agreed so we need to go in for a  consult next Friday to see if we need to do anything. He clearly isn't having any eating issues since he almost made it to his birth weight in a week. I also don't really have much pain when he eats so it's more an issue of whether it will potentially affect his speech. We'll see!

Well summer will be over before we know it, so I hope we find lots more fun things to do and hopefully we can handle it as a family of 4 now!

Parker Update!

Blogging has been hard to keep up on with the end of the school year and end of this pregnancy approaching so I haven't had any Parker updates in a while.

With school finally out I finally have some time to rest and not feel stressed or overtired. Parker has been very good to me this last week and a half! He has been great with his naps and we have had a lot of fun! He is definitely good at playing by himself off and on too, especially when I am tired of crawling around or sitting on the floor.

Since I haven't shared much of Parker, I decided to college again! I also condensed my videos into one video for each month since January. So enjoy if you like :)

January

I shared pictures from January already but here is a collage for February:

Apparently I only took 2 videos in February and they are him running in his underwear, so no video for that month!

May

Well I started this particular blog post while school was still in session! I tried making all the photo collages before Beckham was born but they were taking forever! Then finally I found the site picmonkey.com which made collages for you! So now I don't want to waste anymore time writing about our escapades...so you can make up your own adventures for us as you look through our pictures and videos :)

Now I feel mostly caught up with my blogging so hopefully I can keep it up :)

Beckham - One Week

Yesterday marked Beckham's one week birthday! It is crazy how fast time can fly! I will say that the first several days went by slowly, allowing us to soak up our new snuggle bug :)

Yesterday I shared the story of how Beckham made his entrance into the world. Well after the long day (and into the next morning) of getting him here, we spent the next day - Monday - trying to get to know our newest baby and get some rest. We didn't end up moving into our recovery room until almost 5 am! We probably could have moved sooner but right after I delivered I had another drop in blood pressure - 86/50-something. I could just not get it together! Once we moved I got about 45 minutes of sleep to start the day, between getting my vitals and body checked, having Beckham's vitals checked, and breastfeeding. So that first day was  a little rough but it was also nice because we were able to just hang out together and lay around. We did have Parker come visit his new brother and he was so excited to meet him! I know what a toddler looks like when they fall in love :)

Likes: sleeping, being swaddled, being held, looking at Parker

Dislikes: having gas, getting his diaper changed, being woke up, and getting strapped into his carseat
